Not satisfied with its recent spate of gamechanging supercars like the F12 Berlinetta and horribly named LaFerrari, Ferrari is updating its gorgeous (but now several years old) 458. The 458 Speciale is special for several reasons, the first being that its exterior has been modified to make it the most aerodynamic car Ferrari has ever produced — an advancement party achieved via front and rear flaps that automatically adjust to either increase downforce or reduce drag as needed. Its 4.5-liter V8 engine is also re-tuned to bump horsepower to 605 and torque to 398 lb-ft. This makes the 458 Speciale the most powerful naturally-aspirated V8 engine ever produced by Ferrari, capable of a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time in 3 seconds. Tech-wise a torque managing Side Slip Angle Control System (SSC) will also be introduced, which Ferrari will then filter down to the rest of the Italian marque’s fleet. No word yet on price, but expect more info when the car debuts September 10th at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
